Unmounted SSD

This page contains information about why the internal SSD has been unmounted unexpectantly and how to fix it.

If you encounter an issue where the SSD has been unmounted and is inaccessible on the LabSat 4 display, this may be due to the SSD not shutting down correctly after the previous use.

Reformatting an Unmounted SSD
  1. Using the Ethernet port on the rear panel of the LabSat 4 unit to connect the unit to an active network using DHCP.
  2. Power up the LabSat 4 unit.
  3. Once booted, press OK to enter the menu.
  4. Use the Down button to scroll down to About and press OK.
  5. Take note of the LabSat 4 unit’s IP Address
  6. Use a computer connected to the same network to open a web browser.
  7. Type the LabSat 4 unit's IP Address into the address bar and press Enter.

This will open the Web Server for your LabSat unit.

  8. Click on System Setup in the Web Server.
  9. Click on the Enable SSD format toggle button.
  10. Click Format internal SSD

A pop-up window titled Format SSD will appear.

  11. Click Yes to confirm the format.

If successful, the LabSat will begin to reformat its internal SSD.
If unsuccessful, you will need to format the drive using the Paragon Software or with a Linux-based computer.

IMPORTANT

  • This will blank the SSD in the process, no user data will remain.
  • The format of the SSD should be ext4.
Reformatting the SSD Using the Paragon Software

You can try to fix this issue by:

  1. Connecting the SSD to the PC and see if the Paragon software can read it.
If it can, take the opportunity to copy the drive content and save it elsewhere. Unmount the drive from the software and wait at least 30 seconds before you disconnect the drive. In some cases, this will recover the drive as it has had the opportunity to power up and shut down correctly.

AND

  1. Formatting the SSD with the Paragon software

You can find the instructions for reformatting your SSD with the Paragon software here

If you still cannot mount your SSD, contact Racelogic Support for further assistance.
