Camera Setup

This page contains information about where to mount the cameras for the DSM test.

The HD2 cameras are the main source of data that is used in the post-processing of the test. It is important that they are positioned to capture the exact times of the important elements of the assessment, such as:

  • TGaze
  • TAway
  • Gaze Transition (TGaze-TAway)
  • T0
  • Twarn

Camera location examples:
  1. Windscreen mounted capturing the drivers ‘eyes on road’
  2. Gaze position 1
  3. Warning onset position (e.g. Dashboard or MFD)
  4. Gaze position 2

Note: You can also position Camera 4 with the following goals:

    • To capture minute changes in eye movement for ‘Lizard’ manoeuvres when the gaze position view is obscured by the sunglasses
    • To capture the forward view of the road ahead,  for relay via an HDMI screen to the eyeline of the distracted driver (for safety critical scenarios).
