How to Download and Install the USB Drivers for VBOX 3i

The VBOX 3i units have a USB 2.0 connection that can be used for VBOX configuration and the output of real-time serial data at the full 100 Hz data rate.
 

Before you connect your VBOX to your PC, you must make sure that you have downloaded and installed the required USB drivers onto your PC.

Windows 10 and 11:

Windows will automtically download and install the newest VBOX 3i drivers when you are connected to the internet. For offline use, you can find drivers that are compatible with Windows 10 and 11 on the Automotive Website on the Drivers and Utilities tab.

To use offline, follow the installation instructions below

Installing the drivers: 

When you have downloaded the driver file:

  1. Extract the contents of the downloaded zip file
      - Right-click on the zip file and select “Extract All …”
      - Select the location to which to extract the contents
      - Click Extract
  2. Locate the file ftdiport.inf
  3. Right-click on the file and select Install
  4. Respond Yes to “Do you want to allow this app to make changes to your device?” 
  5. Locate the file ftdibus.inf
  6. Right-click on the file and select Install
  7. Respond Yes to “Do you want to allow this app to make changes to your device?” 

Your drivers are now installed.

Windows 7 and 8

You can download the VBOX 3i drivers from the Drivers and Utilities tab on the Legacy Software page on the Automotive website.

Installing the drivers:

When you have downloaded the driver file:

  1. Open the .zip folder
  2. Run the setup application by double-clicking on the Setup file
  3. Follow the instructions in the install wizard.
  4. Click Install
  5. Click Finish

Your drivers are now installed.
