Map

This page contains information about the Map area in VBOX Test Suite.

The Map area is an area that shows a positional trace from the saved data in a file or real-time live data. A location cursor will indicate the location of the vehicle. To provide the greatest accuracy possible, the map uses the EGM 96 Geoid of Earth.

In Online mode, the map will be centred on the vehicle and will display real-time data.

The Map tab on the ribbon contains the controls and tools for the map. This tab will be displayed when you click anywhere in the Map area, or you can click directly on the Map tab to open it.

Zooming

There are 3 ways to zoom in and out on the map.

  • Click on the buttons on the ribbon in the Map tab.
By pressing the Zoom In Zoom Out buttons, the graph will zoom in/out by 5% for each click.
You can reset the graph to the default zoom level by clicking on the Reset Zoom button.

  • Double-click anywhere in the Map area to zoom in incrementally, or use the scroll wheel to zoom either in or out.

  • Box Zoom (click and drag)
Place the cursor on the map and left-click and drag left or right on the chart.
By holding the left mouse button and dragging the cursor to the right, the chart will zoom in horizontally, where the Y-axis remains the same size and only the X-axis changes.
By holding the left mouse button and dragging the cursor to the left, the chart will return to its original view.
If you have used a box zoom whilst the Centre on Vehicle option is selected, the map will zoom in to the box location and then once the cursor is moved, move back to the centred vehicle.

Saving a Zoom Area

When you have zoomed in on an area, you can assign the zoomed region to a number by pressing the Ctrl key and a number key (1 through 9). Once the region has an assigned number, you can zoom back to that point by pressing the number key again.

Panning

When you have zoomed in on the map, you can right-click and hold anywhere in the map window and drag to move around the map.

If you want to perform this action with the left mouse button, you can select the Pan button on the ribbon to assign panning to the mouse button instead of the box zoom.

Multiple Vehicles

You can load more than one session and see all the vehicles on the map at the same time. If you load a second file and click on the path of the vehicle from the first file, the location of the vehicle from the second file will depend on the X-axis on the chart. Therefore, this feature will only work when the Chart area is added to the workspace and the X-axis on the main chart is UTC Time, Elapsed Time or Distance.
