Load and View CAN Data

This page contains information about how to load and view CAN signals from an associated CAN Log in VBOX Test Suite.

With the VBOX 4 range comes the ability to log CAN data in .asc files that are synced and saved alongside the .vbb files.

  1. When you open a .vbb file with an accompanying .asc file, or an .asc file with and accompanying .vbb file, VBOX Test Suite will automatically open the pair and display a Import Signals from CAN Log window.
  2. In this window you can load the associated .dbc file by clicking on the ... button to the right of the Select dbc dropdown. If you have loaded a dbc previously, and you want to use it again, you can click on the Select dbc dropdown to see a list of the most recent previously opened .dbc files. When you have loaded a dbc file, you can either import all the CAN signals in the CAN log or select specific signals from the CAN log by clicking on the Choose Signals button and ticking the signals you want to import. You can use the search bar at the top of the window to find the signals you are looking for.
  3. When you are happy with the signal selection, click OK to start the import.
  4. After you have imported the signals, you can click on the CAN Log button on the Home tab to open the Import Signals from CAN Log window again and change your CAN signal selection.
  5. With the signals imported, you can now add gauges for each of the available signals on the Dashboard

Note: If you are loading a cut .VBB file with an associated ASC file, the software will only display the corresponding time window in the ASC file.
