VBOX Video HD2 Firmware Features - V1.2.45
This is not the current firmware version!
This version of the VBOX Video firmware includes some significant changes and brings additional functionality to both the unit itself and the iOS and Android Preview Apps. The latest software versions should be used in conjunction with this firmware release to allow full use of the latest features. A summary of the software versions required can be found below:
Software Application | Version required |
---|---|
Circuit Tools for Windows | 2.6.3 |
Circuit Tools for MacOS | 1.3.0 |
Circuit Tools for iOS | 1.1.1 |
VBOX Video App for Android | 1.1.6 |
VBOX Video App for iOS | 1.1.6 |
VBOX Video Setup | 1.1.120 |
Many of the changes have been made as a direct result of customer feedback requesting new features. Some changes have been made to fix bugs and other issues found during testing.
Racelogic strongly recommend that all users upgrade to the latest firmware release to take advantage of the new features and benefit from the improved stability.
The key features in this firmware release are:
- Support for remote USB Start/stop logging switch - RLACS237
- Changes to the WiFi ID and password format for preview app. Allows users to update the VBOX Video WiFi ID with a unique name
- WiFi connection now automatically looks for the least congested WiFi channel
- Updated camera firmware to cure intermittent issues with cameras showing purple images
- Time since stationary function added
- Fix for audio glitches seen with some setups
- Additional features for the VBOX Video App including exposure setting and track map selection
IMPORTANT INFORMATION Upgrading to the latest firmware will change the WiFi name (SSID) of the VBOX Video from VBoxVideo_[serial no] to VVH [serial no]. The password will also be reset to VVH [serial no]. Some features in the preview app and setup software may not function correctly until the VBOX Video is using the latest firmware version |
Further details on setting the WiFi password can be found here.
Camera Updates
When the VBOX Video has been upgraded to the latest firmware, an update will also be applied to all cameras connected to the unit. This update will take place automatically during the firmware upgrade. If no cameras are connected at this time, the upgrade will be applied the first time the unit is powered with cameras connected following the firmware update. Each camera will be updated individually via the port it is connected to.
When the camera update is being applied it will take longer than usual for the VBOX Video to boot and be ready for logging.
Changes to the Bluetooth Start/Stop logging switch
In situations where there are multiple HD2 units in close proximity, (for example a busy pit garage, driver experience companies etc.) in order to eliminate any potential confusion when pairing devices, Racelogic have changed the way the logging switch pairs with the HD2.
The pairing of the Bluetooth logging switch has now been changed to include the Bluetooth buttons MAC code, its own unique identifier, which is individual to that particular switch. This ensures that in busy areas, there can be no confusion or accidental pairing to an incorrect unit.
In order to pair the switch with the HD2, all Bluetooth logging buttons will be shipped with an SD card, containing the unique pairing file for that button*. Simply boot up the HD2, pop the SD card in the slot, and once complete (this will take just a few seconds), power cycle the unit and the HD2 and Bluetooth switch are now able to be paired.
Pairing the button is done in the same way as in previous versions. Press the ‘Record button’, the record LED will then flash orange while searching, then single flash green once paired.
Customers that currently have a Bluetooth logging switch will need to obtain a pairing file from Racelogic when upgrading to Firmware version 1.2.45. To do this, please remove the rear cover of the Bluetooth switch, you should then see on the inside of the rear cover, a 12 digit code written on a silver sticker (MAC Code), as seen below:
Please email this code along with a request for a Bluetooth switch pairing file to support@racelogic.co.uk or give us a call and we can quickly and easily make a file and send this via email.
*NOTE –Please ensure you keep a backup of this file as once loaded into the HD2 it is deleted off of the SD card. Should you need a replacement file for any reason, please contact support.
