Updating the Firmware

This page contains the step-by-step instructions for how to update the firmware on LabSat 4 units.

Occasionally, Racelogic releases new versions of firmware for LabSat 4. This is usually to introduce new features or improvements.

The new firmware can be loaded into the LabSat via the SD card.

The latest firmware upgrade file for LabSat 4 is available on the LabSat Website.

How to Upgrade the Firmware

  1. Download the firmware from the LabSat Website.
  2. Unzip the downloaded firmware file and copy it onto the root directory of the SD card.
  3. Power up the LabSat 4 unit and wait until the box has finished the initialisation.

The initialisation has been completed when the boot screen disappears and you can interact with the unit as usual.

  4. Insert the SD card with the firmware file into the SD card slot on the front panel of the LabSat 4 unit.

The LabSat 4 unit will display an upgrading splash screen.

  5. The LabSat 4 unit will automatically restart when the upgrade is complete.

    IMPORTANT

Do not remove the SD card or power down the LabSat 4 unit until it has completed its automatic restart.

  6. When the update has been completed, the firmware file will be erased from the SD card.

If the update fails for any reason, the firmware file will remain on the SD card and the LabSat 4 unit will
retain the previous version of the firmware.

  7. You can confirm that the LabSat 4 unit is running the latest firmware by navigating to the About Menu and checking the current firmware version.
