How to Update the Firmware
Occasionally, Racelogic releases new versions of firmware (internal code) for the VBOX 4 products. This is often to introduce new features or useful updates and fixes.
To upload new firmware to your VBOX 4 unit, you only need an SD card and the upgrade file.
You can download the latest upgrade file from the VBOX Automotive website.
How to upgrade the firmware
- Make sure that the VBOX 4 unit is powered off.
- Download the latest upgrade file from the link above.
- Place the update file on the root directory of an SD card.
- Insert the SD card with the update file into the SD card slot on the VBOX unit.
- Power the VBOX unit and wait until the box has fully booted (Green PWR LED).
- The VBOX 4 will automatically detect the firmware upgrade file. You will see the LOG LED flashing blue to indicate that the upgrade is being installed.
When the upgrade has been completed the VBOX unit will beep twice and resume normal operation (the upgrade file will be erased).
If the upgrade fails for any reason the upgrade file will remain on the card and the VBOX unit will retain the previous version of the firmware. -
Power-cycle the VBOX unit when the firmware upgrade has been completed successfully.
