Example Data Files - SatGen 4

This page covers the import instructions for the available example files in SatGen 4.
Example 1 – Google KML dynamic scenario

This example uses a pre-recorded KML file to define a dynamic path:

  1. Click the Import icon on the toolbar in SatGen 4.
  2. Select the Google Earth KML File type.
  3. Click the Import button. 
  4. Navigate to Documents\SatGen\Examples and select the KML file named City_London_Cab_route.
  5. Click Open in the file selection window. The file will automatically load into the software.
  6. Select the required date and UTC time under Route.
  7. Click on Almanacs and check that the correct almanac is present.
  8. Click the Create button and enter the Directory and file name.
  9. Click Create File to create your scenario.

 

Example 2 – NMEA dynamic scenario

This example uses a pre-recorded NMEA file to define a dynamic path:

  1. Click the Import icon on the toolbar in SatGen 4.
  2. Select the NMEA File type.
  3. Click the Import button. 
  4. Navigate to Documents\SatGen\Examples and select the MEA File Vesuvius_rim_NMEA.
  5. Click Open in the file selection window. The file will automatically load into the software
  6. Select the required date and UTC time under Route.
  7. Click on Almanacs and check that the correct almanac is present.
  8. Click the Create button and enter the Directory and file name.
  9. Click Create File to create your scenario.

 

Example 3 – VBOX VBO dynamic scenario

This example uses a pre-recorded VBOX VBO file to define a dynamic path

  1. Click the Import icon on the toolbar in SatGen 4.
  2. Select the VBOX File type.
  3. Click the Import button. 
  4. Navigate to Documents\SatGen\Examples and select the VBO file F430-Carolina.vbo.
  5. Click Open in the file selection window. The file will automatically load into the software.
  6. Select the required date and UTC time under Route.
  7. Click on Almanacs and check that the correct almanac is present.
  8. Click the Create button and enter the Directory and file name.
  9. Click Create File to create your scenario.
