Trouble Locking onto Satellites with VBOX HD Lite

The VBOX HD Lite has an internal patch antenna, meaning that in many circumstances, where the unit has a clear view of the sky, you do not require an additional antenna. However, the satellite signals can be influenced from various factors and you can use the External Antenna (RLACS284) to improve your signal.

If you have trouble locking onto satellites , follow the checklist below for typical solutions:

  • Place the antenna where it has an unobstructed view of the sky. You can find more information about GNSS antenna placement here.
  • Perform a GPS Coldstart by pressing and holding the REC button for 5 seconds until the unit shows a white LED. Next you must leave the unit powered up in an open static position for at least 15 minutes for it to regain satellite lock.
  • Check that the antenna connection is clean. Small amounts of dirt in the socket can cause a significant reduction in signal strength.
  • Try another antenna.

If you have tried the different solutions above and you still have trouble with your satellite lock, contact Racelogic Support.
