Tab on Startup:

You can select the tab you want the software to open when you run it: Configuration, Deployment, FW Upgrade, Monitoring or Faults.

Click the dropdown arrow to see the available tabs and click on a tab to select it.

Auto-Refresh

Tick this box to enable the software to refresh automatically.

If this box is not ticked, you will have to click on the Refresh button every time you want to refresh the software and update the contents.

There is a Refresh button in the top right corner on all the tabs in the software (except the Configuration tab).

Auto-Refresh Interval (s)

This setting will only be available when the Auto-Refresh setting has been enabled.

You can set a specific time interval for the software to refresh. It will be set to 15 seconds by default.

The more frequent these updates are the more data traffic will occur, which can affect the stability. We recommend that you use minimum 10 seconds.

You can use the arrow buttons next to the field to increase/decrease the time or you can type it directly into the field.

Configuration

The Configuration settings apply to the master configuration location and data storage. The default master configuration location is the computer you are currently working and the default data storage location is set as a TunnelSat directory on the loacal computer.

PC Name:

If you want to change the master configuration location to a different computer, you can enter the friendly name or IP address to the new master configuration location in this field.

Data Path:

If you want to change the directory used for the master configuration data storage, enter the path to the new directory in this field.

Monitoring

The Monitoring settings apply to the Monitoring Service(s) that is performing the status monitoring of the TunnelSat system. These settings will need to be deployed to take effect. They are, therefore, only available to edit in the Settings on the Configuration tab.

Position Data

The Monitoring tab is split into 3 areas; the Position Table, the Position Map and the Position Details

Position Table

The Position Table displays all the configured positions in your system. Each position has the following information included:

  • Position
    This is the position number.
  • Receiver
The receiver status information contains the number of satellites being received by the monitoring GNSS engine in the TunnelSat unit. It will also report the status of the PPS and 10 MHz input stating if the time and position is matching the expected values.
  • PPS Offset (ns)
The PPS offset information displays a small graph of the most recent PPS offset activity in nanoseconds.
  • SatGen
The status of the SatGen service for the relevant position.
  • PC/TunnelSat
The IP address/name of the SatGen computer and TunnelSat IP address/name, RF output and serial number.
  • Log
The log column will have a button that you can click to open the directory with the logs for the relevant position.

Click on a position in the table to highlight the position on the Position Map and open that position's details in the Position Details area.

Position Map

The Position Map area will display all configured positions relative to each other with coloured circles that indicate their current status. When you click on a position in the Position Table, that position will be highlighted in the map to indicate approximate location relative to the other positions in the system.

Position Details
Header
Position Number

The number in the top, left corner of the Position Details area is the Position Number.

It has a  small coloured circle on the left that will change colour depending on the status of the position.

TunnelSat IP Address

The IP address at the top of the position detail area is the IP address to the TunnelSat Unit

TunnelSat RF Port

The text in the top, right corner of the Position Details area is the RF output channel the position is using.

Receiver

The Receiver section in the Position Details contains information and functionality relating to the receiver.

The coloured circle to the left of the section heading and the status message to the right will indicate the current status for the receiver.

Locate

Click the Locate button to make the LEDs on the relevant TunnelSat unit flash white. This makes it easier to locate a specific unit.

Restart

Click the Restart button to restart the TunnelSat for the selected position.

This will be a full restart, which means that both outputs will be restarted so both positions for this unit will disappear until the unit is running again.

Number of Satellites

This confirms the satellite count.

Time

This is the current time measured by the monitoring engine inside the TunnelSat unit.

This time includes the offset of the configured timing advance for the position, (you can see the configured offset specified next to the time).

Position Offset

This value is the difference between the configured position and the output position.

Click on the Information button to see the specific latitude, longitude and altitude for the two positions.

If this value goes over the set threshold in the Monitoring settings, the number will turn red to indicate that there is an issue.

Uptime

This is a counting clock indicating how long the TunnelSat unit has been on.

Last Restart Reason

This will indicate the cause of the last restart, for example a soft restart command.

Power Level

There are 2 power levels: Standard and Maximum.

 Standard is:

0 dB attenuation, Channel power = - 60 dBm

20 dB attenuation, Channel power = - 80 dBm

Maximum is:

0 dB attenuation, Channel power = - 46 dBm

20 dB attenuation, Channel power = - 67 dBm

Click the dropdown arrow to see the available options and select the one you want to use.

Click the green Apply button next to the Power Level field to confirm your selection.

Attenuation (dB)

You can adjust the attenuation applied to the position to a level between 0 and -30.

Use the arrow buttons on the field to increase/decrease the level or type the required level directly into the field.

Click the green Apply button next to the Attenuation field to confirm your selection.

PPS Offset (ns)

The PPS offset will display the current PPS offset value along with the average PPS offset value in brackets on the right.

The PPS offset is also displayed in a graph underneath for a visual indicator of the offset value over a set time.

PPS Offset Time Period:

You can configure the PPS offset time period.

Click on the dropdown arrow to open the dropdown and select the required time:

  • 10 minutes
  • 30 minutes
  • 1 hour
  • 6 hours
  • 12 hours
  • 21 hours

Clocks

The coloured circle to the left of the section heading and the status message to the right will indicate the current status for the clocks.

PPS in period (ns)

This clock is based on the 10 MHz reference signal and will, therefore, be relatively stable as long as the system is working as expected.

PL Lock

This is a status based on the value above.

  • If the PPS in period (ns) is consistent without too much fluctuation, this status will say OK.
  • If it fluctuates too much, it will change to and Error status.
SatGen

The coloured circle to the left of the section heading and the status message to the right will indicate the current status for the SatGen service.

Restart

Click the Restart button to restart the relevant SatGen service.

Faults

The coloured circle to the left of the section heading and the status message to the right will indicate the current Fault status.

This section will have a tile for each fault that has been raised by the Monitoring Service.

The tiles will contain the following information:

TunnelSatSetupAndMonitoring_Monitoring_Faults_Yellow.svg TunnelSatSetupAndMonitoring_Monitoring_Faults_Blue.svg TunnelSatSetupAndMonitoring_Monitoring_Faults_Red.svg TunnelSatSetupAndMonitoring_Monitoring_Faults_Green.svg

Colour

The fault tiles will have different colours depending on the current status:

  • Green = Resolved
  • Blue = Resolution in progress
  • Yellow = Fault detected
  • Red = Requires manual action

Fault Type

The tile will display the fault type at the top as a heading.

Clear Fault

The fault tile will remain in the position details until it is cleared manually.

Click the bin icon in the top right corner of the tile to clear the fault.

Status

The status bar will display the current status of the fault:

  • Resolved - The system was able to resolve the fault in its automated troubleshooting process.
  • Detected - A fault has been detected but the system has not yet tried to resolve it.
  • Resolution in progress  - The system is currently working through its automated troubleshooting process to resolve the fault.
  • Required manual action - The system was unable to resolve the fault and is requesting manual action by the system owner.

Affected Positions

This number will tell you how many positions are being affected by this fault.

Click on the number to view the position number of the affected position(s).

Fault History

The fault tile will display the date and time that the fault was detected and the date and time it was last updated.
